  3. YUM!! I love homemade larabars. I would love to see a recipe for the cappuccino larabars. They are so good, but when I have tried to make them, they are not quite right. Any ideas for that one?

    1. I haven't tried that kind before! I will look for it at the store. My plan is to also create a version of the limited edition strawberry shortcake bar :)

      1. Please add the limited edition banana chocolate chip to your list! I have a severe nut allergy and can only have almonds. Weird, I know! Anyway, I’m in love with Cherry Pie! Could you make some more options with just almonds? Do you think I can sub almonds for the cashews or will I need to modify the recipe of the ones you’ve already listed?

        1. Hi Laura! I do have this one. You could just add chocolate chips to it :) https://mywholefoodlife.com/2013/02/22/copycat-banana-bread-larabar-bites/

  4. I have a small collection of spoiled rotten parrots. If fed something not to the liking of one, they ALL turn that food down, untouched. I am supervised in all my kitchen work by the birds standing in the doorway, each telling me what to make. Picky eaters all. BRATS!!! Birds need particular vitimins and nutriants tthat are also good for humans. I began making your larabars, not knowing exactly what I was doing. never having had one, but the recipes all read well, and I thought lts try it! Nothing in them to yurt the parrots-yahoo!!!(please excuse the typing and spelling-hand broken-incast. mind left long ago.) By the time I finished the first batch, I was SWAMPED withparrots of all sizes warring to get more than their share. I started again. This time I was slick and locked them all in cages, forgetting completely they all know how to pick the locks. When I saw them sidling into the kitchen this time, I simply doubled the recipe, put all of it into a large flat cookie pan and ran like the devil was chasing me. The food was on the floor in the pan I as making a beeline for the upstairs bathroom to save the one hand left whe one of the bigger birds landed on my head. Naturally, I ran into the wall. Bird is fine, wrist on same hand broken. This is one of the best and tastiest food one can feed birds. Nitrition is well(oh darn gonna leave the errors in correct if you need to) is very good, the size of the bites is perfection for the size of the beaks invovled. No mor mad rush to vet for help for larger bird(they can bite like a sharpened vice) as they no longer choke. So I took some for myself (dangerous move) Then began to make one for the parrots and one for us. We usually get some at least. Blasted parrots! Good thing they are so easy to make. Love them, and am getting more excercise than any other diet. Thank you for these nuggets of goodness and health of both parrots and self. Lynn Porter

  8. My daughter wants to know if there is such I thing as a savory larabar? I'm guessing spicy and salty and not so sweet. And one that is more of a breakfast item. Any ideas

    1. I don't think larabar makes a savory version, but I bet you could do that. Maybe bind with nut butter and add some savory seasonings?

  9. Could you add protein to these? I'm not sure if it would work the same!!

    Reply

    1. The nuts add some protein, but I am sure you can add powder too. You may need to add some water so the mixture isn't too dry, though.

  12. I'm interested in making these for a Type 1 diabetic friend of mine who is currently using Pop-tarts as their go-to between meals... I just cant let that happen anymore. Original larabars have the right amount of sugars and carbs, but having to have them once or twice a day gets pricey, so i'm wondering if you would say your recipes are similar in nutritional amounts to the original larabar recipes?

    1. I don't know if they are exact or not. You can upload the recipes into My Fitness Pal for a breakdown to be sure.

  13. Can these be frozen? Also, could egg white powder be added?

    Reply

    1. They can definitely be frozen. I haven't ever used egg white powder, so I can't say for sure that would work. It may, though.

  17. I made the Cherry Pie version and they were a huge hit with a local backpacking group and everyone said they tasted much better than the original (I passed around your recipe). Well done! I vacuum sealed the remaining bars that I had and am wondering what your thoughts are on long term storage. My goal is to make several recipes in the next 2 weeks, vacuum seal them individually and then use them throughout the summer. Should I be refrigerating these or leaving them at room temp? Thanks in advance!

    1. Yay!! That's great to hear! It's best to keep them in the fridge
